Nuclear Tuesday

Okay, maybe that’s a little extreme but I’ve always found the Tuesday after a three-day weekend is like a Monday morning on steroids. Many people experience the collective blues when dragging themselves out of bed to face the work week, but researchers have found that most people don’t even smile until 11:16 am.  I found another article that says it’s all just a myth, but I’m not buying it. That’s the beauty of the internet. You can find just about anything you need to support your opinion either way. But that’s another post.  Here is a sunset picture from last week when it was still officially summer. I miss you long, lazy days! I know summer isn’t really over until late September but Labor Day marks a significant turning point.

I know part of my own dour mood has to do with procrastination.  I’ll deal with it when the three-day weekend is over mantra. That leaves me sorting through piles of laundry, some of which may or may not be clean. I’ve been resorting to the sniff test. Not fun! The cat barf I had to clean up first thing this morning could not be helped, but expected.  As my brother says, cat barf is a given. Yesterday it was the dog, but at least it was a holiday, and the dreaded Nuclear Tuesday still loomed in the background. So while dealing with the laundry, I have bills to pay online, doctors appointments to make, including a six month dental cleaning I missed which now borders on a year. My dentist is very thorough so along with a brutal scraping, I’ll be receiving a lesson on the proper brushing /flossing technique once again. The dogs are due for shots. The refrigerator is harboring science experiments in unmarked containers. My husband just found an unopened baby shower invitation from June along with the paperwork for the taxes he’s been putting off doing.  He did get an extension but my guess is he’ll be doing them until the final, final deadline.  And my mother-in-law had minor surgery this morning. My husband had to wake up at 5:30 to get her to the hospital by 6 am. At least its close.

And back to the laundry.  The dryer only sometimes works so I have to hang things on the line then throw them in the dryer to get them soft. I’m determined to see my bedroom floor by the end of today.  Hope everyone has a handle on their controlled chaos better than me today. Here’s a song that seems appropriate.

  1. Ha! “Nuclear Tuesday” is a good way to put it. Good luck dealing with the army of little things surrounding your turf! We need a Pannikin morning on the calendar. ; )
